Association

Our Foundation

The European Association of Phenomenology, Psychopathology and Psychotherapy (EAPPP) was founded in 2018 in Paris in response to the growing need for a structured European platform connecting researchers and clinicians working within these closely related fields. From its inception, the Association has sought to cultivate an intellectually rigorous interdisciplinary community and to foster dialogue between theoretical reflection and clinical practice.

The last conference took place in Coppenhagen in 2024 and the general assembly elected the following board:

  • Rosita Triantafyllia Christofidelli, President, International Federation of Daseinanalysis (IFDA)
  • Prof. Julie Nordgaard, University of Copenhagen and Psychiatry East, Region Zealand.
  • Prof. Natalie Depraz, University of Rouen.
  • Prof. Michéle Gennart, University of Lausanne.
  • Prof. Philippe Carbestan, L’Ecole fracaise de Daseinanalyse.
  • Prof. Thomas Fuchs, University of Heidelberg.

Our Mission

EAPPP is dedicated to advancing research and collaboration in phenomenology, psychopathology, and psychotherapy. The Association seeks to:

  • Encourage high-quality scientific research within these disciplines
  • Promote interdisciplinary exchange across theoretical and clinical domains
  • Foster cooperation among national associations and research groups throughout Europe
  • Support education, training, and the development of early-career scholars
  • Organize a biennial conference hosted in different European countries

Our Vision

EAPPP aims to contribute to a strong and sustainable European network in which philosophical inquiry, clinical expertise, and empirical research inform and enrich one another. By strengthening cross-national collaboration and academic–clinical partnerships, the Association seeks to support ongoing methodological reflection and responsible innovation in the field.

Fields of Work

The activities of EAPPP are grounded in three closely interconnected areas:

Phenomenology
The study of the structures of lived experience and subjective meaning as foundational dimensions of mental life.

Psychopathology
The investigation of the nature, structure, and development of mental disorders through descriptive, clinical, and theoretical approaches.

Psychotherapy
The advancement of clinical practice through interdisciplinary research and sustained dialogue between theory and therapeutic experience.
